I occasionally get asked if I can provide any good resources for learning PHP, and somewhat to my shame, I usually can't. What I know has been built up on over a decade of bad habits and old books and online resources that are woefully obsolete. Instead, here are some general tips for finding a good resource, and learning to code safely. Where I've been specific, I'll try to make sure this information stays up to date. I'm looking at PHP 5.2 right now, aware that 5.3's around the corner and brings a number of significant features (and 6 doesn't seem so very far away). There's some miscellaneous other trivia in there too that I hope will be useful. I'm sorry about the font-size, my site design wasn't made with large amounts of text in mind. Your browser should be able to make things more readable though.
